Bringing down an old pole sounds simple. Just cut it and let it drop, right?

Well... not always. Especially when you're standing in someone's backyard with a fence, a shed, or a vehicle ten feet away.

That's why our line techs learn to take a pole down in pieces. Two staggered cuts, break it off, toss it down small, stay in control the whole time. Usually 5 to 6 foot sections so nothing gets away from you.

You will run the truck.

Bucket trucks. Digger derricks. Knuckle boom cranes. Log truck loaders.

Not a simulator. Not a demo. You in the seat, with an instructor walking you through it.

Class A CDL is part of the program too, so you can legally drive what you learn on. That's not a "nice-to-have" in this industry, it's a necessity.

Have you ever heard of a Johnny Ball? Sometimes they're called a throw ball.

Basically, they save you a ton of hassle whenever you need to run a rope or wires through a tricky space that you can't get a bucket truck.

Sling the Johnny Ball up where you need it, attach the paracord to what you need to put up there, and pull it up.

And yes, they are fun to play with.
